Scared of Starting up?

People arrive at the self employed decisions for many reasons – for some it’s been a yearning for a while, for others redundancy have changed their outlook, or simply its fits a more flexible lifestyle. For whatever reason, it can be the best step you ever take…

There is support available…check out your local LEP – for Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire its www.d2n2lep.org and find their business support hubs. Talk to people. Do your homework. Consider the financial implications – do you need a part time job to pay the bills whilst you build the business? Take care that this is a temporary appointment though – time certainly does fly. Keep in mind why you went into business – write it down so that you can see it when you need a boost. Go to networks to surround yourself with support – they’ve experienced highs and lows and will help.

For me, bid writing enables me to work flexibly. I can walk my dog if the writer’s block strikes. It’s the perfect environment.  And I love working with people, and supporting them to do what they do best. I have a successful track record.  It’s a perfect win win!

Go on. Take the leap.
